Will grow in most good soils.

Position

Sun or partial shade.

Frost tolerant

Cold weather can improve flavour and texture.

Feeding

Not usually required.

Spacing

Single Plants: 25cm (9") each way (minimum)
Rows: 20cm (7") with 40cm (1' 3") row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

Sow direct into soil in late spring or early summer.

Notes

Water well in dry periods.

Harvesting

Harvest in autumn when the swede is well developed. In milder areas can be left in the ground until mid winter, otherwise lift and store them in boxes of sand.
