Our Garden Planner can produce a personalised calendar of when to sow, plant and harvest for your area.

Notes

Use fine mesh or exclusion netting over the warmer months to prevent butterflies laying eggs on the underside of leaves - caterpillars can destroy these plants. Short maturity cabbages are the most suitable types for sowing during the warmer months.

Harvesting

Harvest when heads have reached a decent size and are firm.

Troubleshooting

Heavy summer rains following dry weather can cause heads to split.
